There is so much to do at Penn State. Check out ten places to visit and do at Penn State.

Penn State has so many things to do that you can practically never be bored even if you tried! Events are hosted through the university, clubs, organizations, housing areas,RA’s, and many more. All you have to do is keep your eyes, and ears open to them. Here are my top 10 places to visit/things to do at Penn State!

1.Penn State Creamery

The Penn State creamery is number one for many reasons that you can imagine. Not only is the creamery rooted deep in Penn State history it’s delicious, cheap, and worth every scoop. Just remember the two rules of not mixing flavors, and only having blue and white sprinkles!

2. Dining commons

Each dining commons has their specialty when it comes to food, themes, and what they are known for. Many people rave about West’s fresh out the oven soft cookies! In South they have late night meals for those late night cravings! In Pollock you will find delicious smoothies during the fall and when winter comes around hot chocolate, espresso, and hot drinks will be on deck for you to warm up with. In East you can find wings once a week to munch on and in North you will find a calm dining experience for days you want to take your time and relax. Whichever you decide to indulge in each place has their own character as well as style. So be adventurous and try something new.

3. Late Night in the HUB

Every Friday there is late night in the HUB where free recent movies are shown, board games, various crafts, and if you get hungry Sbarro and BK are open late just for you. Late night can be a great alternative to other activities that may be happening on campus and you never know what you might leave with.

4. Lion Shrine

Not only is the Lion Shrine the second most photographed landmark in Pennsylvania its also tradition to take a photo when you are a freshman then take another picture when you graduate to see your growth and progress!

5.The Arboretum

The arboretum is a beautiful and relaxing area to get some fresh air outside near some flowers and soft grass. Not only does the arboretum have PSU wifi it also has a beautiful fountain to enjoy. So make a trip and enjoy a piece of flowery, grassy heaven!

6. Pegula Ice Arena

Pegula has times for open skating year round for students to enjoy at a reduced price and sometimes they may have free skate as well! Whether you are a pro ice skater or never skated before you are guaranteed a good time when you and a few friends skate, fall, and laugh together.

7. THON

Even if you currently have no interest in going to THON at the moment when the time comes around you will find yourself at THON by the time you know it! THONĀ is a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. It’s a lot of fun as well as a tradition here at Penn State since 1977! Whether you get involved in the production of THON, fundraise, or just stop in for a few hours THON is where it’s at!

8. Sporting Event

Whether it is a football game, wrestling,volleyball, etc. You need to go to a sporting event here at Penn State. Even if you aren’t into sports going with friends will be fun regardless. Not only will you feel the energy, school spirit, and community all in one place come alive you might even get some free items there as well!

9. Homecoming

Homecoming is a week long fiasco filled with fun, food, and a parade that runs around campus! Its also the largest student run homecoming organizations in the country! We go large here at Penn State so enjoy what homecoming has to offer and have some fun. If you can, also go to the homecoming football game to put the cherry on top of such a great week!

10. Paul Robeson Cultural Center (P.R.C.C)

Not only does the PRCC have great spaces for studying there are also many advertised events to broaden your experience here at Penn State! Many multicultural organizations advertise form the PRCC so stop by, grab a flyer, and go experience something new here at Penn State!

Although this list does not come close to all the many different things you can experience here at Penn State it is definitely a great starting point.Another way to know whats happening around Penn State is checking your email, reading flyer boards, and reading stall stories as well. There will always be something new and different happening on and around campus. Go out and have a blast to have the best four years you can possibly have at Penn State!
